How can I participate?

There are two ways to participate: individual donations of toys or departmental sponsorships for a science program at a local school.

Please donate new, unwrapped toys appropriate for children ages 3-13. We encourage toys related to science, technology, engineering, math, or the arts.

Can anyone donate?

Yes, all faculty, students, and staff are encouraged to participate in the holiday giving initiatives.

Which organizations receive the toy drive donations?

All donations go to children in Washington Heights/Inwood and are distributed by the following organizations: 

  • NYPD 33rd Precinct Community Council 
  • Washington Heights Child Care Center

Which local school's science programs is CUIMC supporting?

PS 132M Juan Pablo Duarte on 185 Wadsworth Avenue near 181 Street 

Donation request: take-home hydroponics kits for each of the 210 students to support the hydroponics curriculum and nutrition education efforts 

Minimum donation: $3465 

 

KIPP Washington Heights Middle School on 21 Jumel Place on 168 Street near Amsterdam Avenue 

Donation request: supplies for the annual science fair for grades 6-8 

Minimum donation: $1500

Donation request: noise-cancelling headphones for young students with autism
